It’s National Allotment Week!….but what has that got to do with Barrett Print?

It’s National Allotment Week! There is nothing better than planting and growing your own produce, savouring the delights when they are ready for harvesting. Reducing your trips to the shops, reducing the use of plastic and generally doing your bit for the environment – and keeping fit!.
The paper industry is the same. Using paper within your office environment is not as bad as you are led to believe. Almost every paper available on the market is now FSC certified. FSC’s pioneering certification system, which now covers more than 200 million hectares of forest, enables businesses and consumers to choose wood, paper and other forest products made with materials that support responsible forestry.
In addition to this, you can go the “extra-mile” for a fairly moderate sum of money. There is a scheme operating in the paper industry called “Carbon Offset Scheme”. Whilst there is a small cost applied to every order, the long and short of the scheme is that trees are planted in return for paper sold. In very simple terms (as I am no scientist), by planting the trees we are helping to offset CO2!
Every time our clients opt into the scheme, we are able to use the special Scheme logo on their printed forms, which subtly advertises their dedication to improving the environment and their steps towards reducing GHG (green house gases).
How can we help?
Please ask about this scheme when you are next placing an order. You really will be helping to keep those forests alive and well. Forests are vital to life on Earth. They purify the air we breathe, filter the water we drink, prevent erosion, and act as an important buffer against climate change.
Food for thought!
